Gastric Lapband

Lap-Band Surgery Denver

Lap-Band ® System Overview

The LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding System was investigated and pioneered by Apollo Endosurgery as a successful and long-term weight loss tool. The adjustable gastric banding system was first approved by the FDA in the United States in 2001 and is the only adjustable weight loss system available. This procedure is the least traumatic and the only adjustable and reversible obesity surgery treatment available in the United States. The LAP-BAND® System provides unique tools that can help you achieve and maintain significant weight loss, improve your health, and enhance your quality of life.

The Lap-Band is a silicone band that is placed around the top of the upper part of your stomach. The LAP-BAND® System works by reducing the capacity of the stomach, which restricts the amount of food and calories that can be consumed. This allows for safe and sustainable weight loss.

The LAP-BAND AP® System

The LAP-BAND is an excellent tool to help fight obesity. Average weight loss seen approaches 50-60% of a patient’s excess weight (results vary). The latest generation of the LAP-BAND® System – the LAP-BAND AP® System – is the most advanced adjustable gastric banding system approved by the FDA.

The LAP-BAND AP® System uses patented Omniform™ technology. This new technology introduces a 360 degree inflation area to allow for equalization of pressure and complete coverage around the top of the stomach. Omniform™ technology is designed to minimize the potential for leaks due to unwanted creases or folds (crease-fold failure).

Advantage of the LAP-BAND®:

  • The procedure can be done laparoscopically
  • It does not require opening of the gastrointestinal tract
  • No risk of leaking from a staple line in the intestine
  • It is adjustable.
  • The band can be removed if necessary
